Amelante's blogDING!Finally! After nearly a year of playing WoW. Now to wait for the expansion...
Bringing the taint of dark magic to Moonglade
Reborn...
From level 12 on up, we quested and instanced together, which was quite fun (though probably not the most efficient way to gain XP). We've had many interesting PvP encounters (mainly instigated by Husker)... all of which, so far, we've come out on top. :) (The latest was an encounter with a mage and priest our level, in the Barrens. Lesson 1: Do not let the enemy choose the time to strike. Lesson 2: Do not waste half your mana trying find a stealthed enemy while flagged. :) In the 21-30 tier Warsong Gulch games, though Alliance did not always win, Husker and I (and especially I... bwahaha) dominated the killing blow/honorable kill charts with our mid-field hunter-killer tactics. Sad to say, 31-40 is quite the opposite, probably because we are (were) at the bottom of the tier in levels. But hopefully that will change soon. :) A whole year of FFXI...And also, my time to retire. :) I really enjoyed all the time with the linkshell, the static party. I'm really going to miss you all. :) I'll be dropping in now and then, to say hi and to see how people are doing. Maybe even to level summoner and/or black mage a bit. ;) Maybe I'll run into you in other games. :) Later everyone!
End of TimesThat's what it feels like, at least. Our entire static party joined an HNM LS — SearchAndDestroy. We've only been members for a little over a week now and already we've done so much. Some of the NM hunts which I've had the privelege to take part of — Bune, Amikiri, Unger, the god item NMs, 4 of the gods of the sky (Suzaku, Seiryu, Genbu, Byakko), Hakutaku, the Bomb Queen... It's been quite busy... and also quite sad. I've been struggling with juggling between ToH and S&D... but I've decided on a simple strategy: equip the pearl for which my current activities are relavent for. By default, I'll be in ToH... it's been working out OK, I think. But I believe some of my static-mates are spending too much time in S&D... ;) But it's a good thing, I guess... we need a solid presence in both linkshells and we definitely keep each other informed of happenings. Maat Mashed!I finally beat that old man! Finally, on my fifth attempt! See the video here. (20MB, BitTorrent). The only thing I did different was... I devised/used a macro set specifically for Maat. Go figure. Anyway, my initial assault was resisted down to 1/2 or so. I thought I was going to lose again... but apparently, I got lucky because he decided to only cast Bind/Drown/Poisonga II/Drown (and finally Blizzaga II) after my 2nd ancient magic spell. That bought me enough time to make up the missing damage with Blizzard III and finally Blizzaga II for the finishing blow... (If you're wondering why so much ice, it's because I wielded my Ice Staff through the whole fight.) Surprises Waiting in CoffersAt a previous testimony hunt, I managed to win the lot on a Castle Oztroja Coffer Key. Well, for the past 3 days, while waiting for my static party to assemble, I decided to hang out in the upper levels of Castle Oztroja. I basically just ran around continuously, invisible, checking the 9 or so coffer spawn points. (One of the points though, is behind the door that's opened by lighting torches far away, normally requiring a partner or flee. Big thanks to Sykopath and Zatu for showing me that “there is no spoon” and that the door can be opened solo. ;) Well, I never saw a coffer until a day ago... when it spawned in the middle of the puddle of water where parasites hang out. (Thankfully, they don't aggro me.) Unfortunately, a galka thief was 3-4 steps ahead of me and got to the coffer first. Despite him failing to pick the coffer 3 times, I just made myself visible and patiently stood back. I suppose I could've just rushed up to the coffer and opened it... but that would've been highly rude. I'm quite fond of my karma, thank you. :) Anyway, he successfully opened the coffer eventually, went invisible, and ran off. I just bowed, went invisible myself, and continued my passes. |
