ZerothAngel's blogHow Time Flies...Been quite a while, which is pretty much status quo for this blog. Anyway, I've been pretty much done with MMOs for a while. My interest in RIFT tapered off... mainly because I had no time or motivation to play. As usual, none of my guildies stuck around and I found myself just logging in to participate in world events. RIFT is a great game with a great developer (and support)... unfortunately, I probably won't be playing it again.
Gaming OverloadI've gotten so many new games since my last post and started just as many, but for the time being, only a handful can keep my attention. I briefly started playing Alien Swarm and I regret not playing that when it was more popular with my Steam friends. I had to play with bots in order to finish it. I dragged my brother into playing a full campaign and it was pretty fun. I hope it gets developed into a complete game someday. The whole isometric shooter thing also piqued my interest (albeit briefly) in similar games, like Alien Breed and Zombie Nation.
Winter GamingWell, it's been 2-3 months since my last post. I did finally finish Darksiders, and I thought it was pretty awesome. I have a small urge to see it in movie form, but given the track record of video game movies... maybe not.
Apocalypse and EorzeaSome time ago, I picked up Darksiders for the PS3. I'd heard many good things about this game (and the fact that it has no quick-time events really drew me) and I'd been curious for a while. I finally decided to take the $20 plunge.
Summer UpdateAhh, summertime. On the single player game front, not much has changed. I did finally finish Dead Space. I think it took me a little over a month to beat (though it's only a 15-hour game). At my slowest point, I think I was doing a chapter a weekend. If you've played it or know what it's about, you'll understand why I insisted only playing it on weekends, during the day. ;)
Whiners Win Again! Some background — Cryptic implements a death penalty and the much asked-for difficulty slider in STO (currently on the test shard). At some point in the past, STO's executive producer was quoted in an interview saying something to the effect of: death penalties are annoying, they should be optional.
A Time of CrysisWhen a sequel comes out (or is announced), it's really rare for me to go back and finish the earlier game(s). (Assuming I haven't finished it already.) In recent memory, I only did that for Half-Life Episode 2 — its imminent release with the Orange Box spurred me to finally finish Half Life 2 and HL2 Episode 1, which I have been sitting on for years.
ForumsMMO game forums (and news sites) are such cesspools of negativity. I rarely post in them, yet I cannot stop reading them. Now as far as game forums go, it's almost always the case that only a small minority of the player base (the vocal minority) post in them. It's always amusing and facepalm-inducing.
Been a While (Part 2)As far as MMOs go, sadly they've been neglected over the months, mostly due to X3:TC. I still have active subs to Warhammer Online and EVE Online. But all I do in WAR is just log on for a few minutes once every week or two, which I do to avoid getting kicked from my guild (though the GM probably wouldn't kick me now at this point... who knows).
Been a WhileI'm not really a good blogger since I don't blog regularly. C'est la vie. The last game I mentioned playing was Dragon Age: Origins. Well, sometime near Christmas, Steam had a massive game sale and I ended up getting many many $10 and sub-$5 games. The notable few of that set of games were Evil Genius and X3: Terran Conflict.
