A Time of Crysis

When a sequel comes out (or is announced), it's really rare for me to go back and finish the earlier game(s). (Assuming I haven't finished it already.) In recent memory, I only did that for Half-Life Episode 2 — its imminent release with the Orange Box spurred me to finally finish Half Life 2 and HL2 Episode 1, which I have been sitting on for years.

However, more often than not, my attempt to finish the earlier game(s) fails — especially if I've already gotten a taste of the newer game. Usually the UI or gameplay is much better in the sequel. (I'm looking at you Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect.)

Well, having seeing the new Crysis 2 trailer, The Wall, I was suddenly interested in Crysis again. So sometime last week, I reinstalled it, patched it up and began playing again. I didn't opt to continue off my old saved game since I felt I needed to run through the tutorial again. But after about a week of casual playing, I managed to finish it.

Fortuitously, I finished it over the weekend... right when Impulse had a sale on Crysis Warhead. So Sunday afternoon, I bought that and spent the next day and a half downloading it.

I wrapped up Crysis Warhead last night (it really was a short game, but that was to be expected). So at least I can say I'm now ready to play Crysis 2...

My next goal is to finish up Dead Space. I doubt I'll bother with Dead Space: Extraction, despite having access to a Wii. At least Dead Space 2 isn't due for a while, and the first game is relatively short.
