Winter GamingWell, it's been 2-3 months since my last post. I did finally finish Darksiders, and I thought it was pretty awesome. I have a small urge to see it in movie form, but given the track record of video game movies... maybe not. I'm still "subbed" to FFXIV, but I really haven't played it for months. Square just keeps extending and extending the first free month. I don't think I'll bother continuing though. For one, the interface is still pretty horrible despite all the improvements. And another reason is that the whole ToH reunion fell apart. The person who was coordinating the reunion didn't really do a good job, and in fact, perhaps didn't really have any intention to play with original ToH members. (She had no problem rolling on the same server as her half-dozen friends and relatives though!) No, I'm not bitter, just a bit disappointed. You can't go home again, after all. MMO gaming has died down for me a bit since FFXIV. I've been occupying my time playing largely single-player games. I tacked on another 80 or so hours to Dragon Age: Origins. I finally decided to buy up all the DLC since Return to Ostagar and was surprised by the amount of content there was (especially since I'm an achievement-whore). On top of all the DLC, there was Awakenings which I never really started. That was an enjoyable 25-30 hours alone. I played and finished Tron: Evolution in advance of the movie (which I will be seeing sometime this weekend). For the most part, it was enjoyable but also super-frustrating. It was a very unforgiving platformer game to the core. I enjoyed the story and like that it acts as a canon prequel to the movie. I may play it again to collect more Tron Files and Abraxus Disc Shards. In between all that, I've had some bouts of Civilization V and even more X3: Terran Conflict. Though I have yet to try out the new content in X3TC that was added with the latest patch. I've been trying to get back into a "scary game" mood, ahead of Dead Space 2's arrival in late January. For that, I've been trying out Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Metro 2033... though my playtimes have been sporadic since, with work happening, I can only play at night. ;) That will all change with my 10 day vacation though, starting right about now...
