How Time Flies...Been quite a while, which is pretty much status quo for this blog. Anyway, I've been pretty much done with MMOs for a while. My interest in RIFT tapered off... mainly because I had no time or motivation to play. As usual, none of my guildies stuck around and I found myself just logging in to participate in world events. RIFT is a great game with a great developer (and support)... unfortunately, I probably won't be playing it again. My EVE accounts are set to expire on December 1st or thereabouts. (I had gotten 1 year subs on a few of them.) It's a shame. I thought Walking in Stations would be cool, but it was just a half-assed implementation. More is coming up and of course, the core spaceship game is still there, but without the time or fellow gamers. Haven't touched STO in a while. I'm a bit wary about the F2P changes, but also excited about the new systems that are going to be implemented. I sorta fell out of CO as well, but at least it's still there and they're constantly improving and adding to the game. Now all 3 superhero MMOs are F2P. I don't think I'll ever bother with DCUO, and after having tasted CO, I don't think I could stand CoX. Anyway... most of my gaming has been of the single player or co-op variety. I've finished games like Metro 2033, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Space Marine. And I've also started many other games. I don't think I'll bother finishing Dragon Age 2. It's just that horrible compared to DA:O. I'm still in the middle of Dead Space 2 and I really want to finish that. Up before Skyrim, I was putting many hours into Dead Island which I also thoroughly enjoy. And yes, Skyrim was the latest release 11/11/11. I've nearly put over 100 hours into that game. And one more thing that's been missed since the last blog entry (February!). One day, I picked up the Terraria 4-pack really cheap on Steam. I gave copies to my brother and a few friends. My brother and I played co-op for an hour or two when we realized: "Hey, isn't that game Minecraft supposed to be like a 3D version of this?" Well, that was our naive thought anyway. So I bought Minecraft for both of us, set up a server, and we played that heavily over the summer. Tried to get other friends into it with no luck. I eventually got interested in server-side plugin development and wrote quite a few plugins. Now that Minecraft 1.0 has been released, it's just a matter of time before I start up my server again. Minecraft is so fun both as a player (I'm more of a redstone engineer than a builder) and a developer. But alas, Skyrim...
